The Maker’s Lab: Real Plans for Real Problems

Talk is cheap. Politicians offer sympathy while the problems get worse. A “Maker” builds solutions. Here are two of mine.

The 3D-Housing Revolution

The housing crisis is a supply and cost crisis. We can’t build fast enough or cheap enough with old methods. The solution is to industrialize housing production.

The Plan: Direct federal funding to establish modular housing factories right here in Clark, using cutting-edge 3D-printing and prefabrication. These factories will produce high-quality, energy-efficient homes at a fraction of the current cost and time. This bypasses the labor shortage and puts downward pressure on the entire housing market. We stop waiting for the market to fix itself and start building the homes our community needs.

The Handbrake on Greed & Environmental Damage

Our natural heritage is not a commodity to be sold off to the highest bidder, especially when it comes at the cost of our environment and long-term economic stability. The 2025 “Salmon Shield” Act is a disgrace – it puts corporate profits ahead of scientific fact and the health of our waterways.

The Plan: First, we repeal the EPBC Amendment (Reconsiderations) Act. Environmental decisions must be based on science, period. Second, we repeal the anti-protest laws designed to silence dissent. When 4 million salmon die in a year and the Maugean Skate is on the brink, citizens have a right to be heard. We will fund a transition for workers in the salmon industry towards sustainable aquaculture and land-based industries, ensuring no one is left behind as we clean up our waters.
